Phillip Hunter Biography

Retired Admin Lt, SU Dept of Public Safety: 14 years (1995–2009).
Award for Outstanding Service to SU – 2002.
SU Athletic Association – Honorary Life Member: 2009.
Helped organize the “Buzzin’ Dozen” Pep Band – 2008. Later merged into the SU Marching Band.
Volunteer Bass player for the Harambee Gospel Choir Band.

7 years of Retail Management Experience with FW Woolworth & Woolco Department Stores.
3 years experience as an Executive Director of the Flower Piney Branch Local Development Corporation in Silver Spring, MD.
2 years as an Assistant Manager of Dart Drug/Home Center.
5 years as an Assistant Manager & Front End Manager of Rite Aid Drug Stores.

Prior Volunteer Activities: Habitat for Humanity, ReStore, CCAP, Salvation Army, Faith in Action Driver, 1st Presbyterian Church – Forgiven Praise & Worship Band, & the Afghan Resettlement Mission/Church World Services – Volunteer Case Worker & Employment Specialist: 2020–2022.

Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging (SAAA) – now Seniors First Agency for Seniors – Volunteer Entertainer & Therapeutic Music Specialist for 14 years.

Member of the SAR (Sons of the American Revolution). Colonial Living History events, especially demonstrating Colonial Quill Pen Writing for children & adults. Scotch-Irish ancestors were innkeepers in Bath/Berkeley Springs, VA (now WV): 1787–1850.

Opequon Presbyterian Church Member since 2017. Member of the Sanctuary Choir. Building & Grounds projects, especially the landscape beds & the Memorial “Scattering” Cremation Garden. Outstanding Volunteer 2019. Older Adult of the Year – 2024.

Prior Board Member for the SFF, Inc representing the Opequon Presbyterian Church. Attended board meetings at the Henkel House.
