Steve A. Cantu Biography

Steve graduated from Woodbridge High School and majored in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Virginia Tech. He retired after working for 37 years for Champion International and International Paper, where he had responsibilities in production management, supply chain operations, and project management.
After 11 job relocations, he and his wife of 47 years chose to retire to Winchester in 2015. He attends the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, where he serves as a Eucharistic Minister and is an active member and officer of the Knights of Columbus. Being a student of history, Steve became a member of the Kernstown Battlefield Association soon after settling in Winchester and subsequently became a Board Member and served as the treasurer for 8 years. Steve is a member of the American Battlefield Trust and the Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation.
Steve has a high interest and passion for helping others and giving back. He’s been involved with Habitat for Humanity house builds, United Way campaigns, the Winchester Knights of Columbus Soup Kitchen that has operated for over 30 years each Wednesday, and has coordinated 3 Red Cross blood drives.
He is a Board Member and Trustee of the Shenandoah Fellowship Foundation, serving as the Property Committee Chair, and serves as a Board Member for Marion Homes, INC., an organization that owns group homes for intellectually disabled adults.
